On November 11, 2013, Columbia Records will release the soundtrack to “12 Years A Slave” — the critically acclaimed film — which features violinist Tim Fain. Fain performs the violin music played by historic character Solomon Northrup (portrayed by Chiwetel Ejiofor) in the Steve McQueen-directed film. “12 Years a Slave” reunites Fain with pianist/composer Nicholas Britell, who wrote and arranged the violin music and spirituals for the film. The film also stars Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, and Benedict Cumberbach.

Fain’s previous film work includes being seen on screen and heard on the Grammy-nominated sound track of Darron Arenofsky’s hit film “Black Swan.” Fain just presented the Boston premiere of his multimedia piece Portals; and audiences can hear his next performance on November 1 at the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society.
