Kernis: The American Classical Music Hall of Fame

The official celebration occurs on April 24, when Kernis will be formally inducted during a ceremony that will take place immediately before the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra’s world premiere of his new Viola Concerto, featuring soloist Paul Neubauer. Roberto Abbado leads the premiere and subsequent performances.

Founded in 1996 and located in Cincinnati, OH, the American Classical Music Hall of Fame seeks to build and sustain enthusiasm for classical music in America by celebrating diverse facets of classical music excellence. Other American Classical Hall of Fame inductees joining Kernis this year include pianist Andre Watts, the Guarneri Quartet, the American Guild of Organists, and noted educator-conductor Weston Noble. Inductees were selected through a rigorous process involving nominations and voting by the organization’s National AKernis Classical Music Hall of Fame logo 2rtistic Council, Board of Directors, Inductee Selection Committee, and Professional Organization Advisory Council.
