From May 9 – 11, Derek Bermel serves as composer-in-residence with the Colorado Chamber Players, where they’ll perform several of his works including Mulatash Stomp and the recent work A Short History of the Universe for clarinet and string quartet. Bermel tells Colorado Public Radio’s Charley Samson that “I try to make music out of what I love. Everything from the Beatles and the Jackson Five to gospel music and a lot of jazz…” Click here to listen to more of Samson’s interview with Bermel, and to hear Bermel play his piece Thracian Sketches.
