Based on historical events, British director Steve McQueen created a film that has already garnered major attention at international festival previews. The movie stars Chiwetel Ejiofor in the lead role, along with Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbender. <i>12 Years a Slave<\/i> reunites Fain with pianist\/composer Nicholas Britell, who wrote and arranged the violin music and spirituals for the film.<\/p>\n<p>Fain\u2019s previous film work includes being seen on screen and heard on the Grammy-nominated sound track of Darron Arenofsky&#8217;s hit film <i>Black Swan<\/i>, and heard as the sound of Richard Gere&#8217;s violin in Fox Searchlight&#8217;s <i>Bee Season<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Fain\u2019s has also been recently touring his solo multi-media, full-evening project <i>Portals<\/i>. <i>Portals<\/i> premiered in 2011 to sold out houses in New York and California, and continued its sold-out tour to Australia at the Melbourne Festival. <i>Portals<\/i> travels to Boston&#8217;s Gardner Museum on October 17th.<\/p>\n<p>12 Years A Slave opens in theaters on October 18.<\/p>\n<p>Watch the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?feature=player_embedded&amp;v=z02Ie8wKKRg\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">official trailer here<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tim Fain gives &#8220;voice&#8221; to the violin of \u201cSolomon Northrup,\u201d the lead character in the forthcoming film 12 Years a Slave.
