Lou Fancher of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfweekly.com\/shookdown\/2014\/09\/12\/new-century-chamber-orchestra-delights-9-11-14\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>SFWeekly<\/em><\/span><\/a><\/span> noted that Bermel &#8211; as guest clarinetist and composer &#8211; &#8220;provided talent and tease in his three compositions. Proving himself capable of playing anything and everything on his instrument, Bermel joined members of the en<a href=\"https:\/\/dworkincompany.com\/pressandevents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Bermel-SFWeekly-long-logo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-861 alignright\" style=\"border: 2px solid black;\" alt=\"Bermel SFWeekly long logo\" src=\"https:\/\/dworkincompany.com\/pressandevents\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/Bermel-SFWeekly-long-logo.jpg\" width=\"448\" height=\"125\" \/><\/a>semble in his <em>A Short History of the Universe<\/em> for String Quartet and Clarinet&#8230;[which] suspended time and tested the tension between alternative rhythms.
