“…I’ll wear the greatest gown ever,” shared violist Cynthia Phelps, when Laurence Vittes of Strings Magazine asked her how she’d handle being in New York’s intense classical-music spotlight when she premiered Julia Adolph’s Viola Concerto with the New York Philharmonic.
Seriously, though, they chatted about the being in the spotlight of Maestro Van Zweden’s first night as the orchestra’s new music director, as well as the creative process of working with the composer to present a new work written in celebration of Phelps’ own 25th anniversary with the New York Philharmonic.
