\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Mount Kisco, NY \u2013 The closing concert of Copland House\u2019s 2019-2020 mainstage series will feature the World Premieres of six new works created especially for this program, the culmination of the widely-acclaimed CULTIVATE emerging composers institute. Journeying to the exciting frontiers of music today, the compositions were written by the gifted Fellows of CULTIVATE 2019:\u00a0 (clockwise from top left) Flannery Cunningham<\/a><\/strong>, Chelsea Komschlies<\/a><\/strong>, Charles Peck<\/a><\/strong>, Igor Santos<\/a><\/strong>, Nina Shekhar<\/a><\/strong>, and Samuel Yulsman<\/a><\/strong>. Their highly imaginative compositions range widely, and were variously inspired by Alexander Calder mobiles, Scottish bagpipe music, skipping vintage vinyl record players, and fictional, harp-playing sea sprites.<\/p>\n The concert takes place on Sunday afternoon, June 9 at 3pm at Westchester County\u2019s Merestead estate in Mount Kisco, and features the celebrated Music from Copland House<\/strong> ensemble, hailed by Louisville Weekly <\/em>as \u201cone of the leading champions of contemporary music.\u201d The fearless performers at this concert are clarinetist Moran Katz<\/strong>, violinist Pala Garcia<\/strong>, cellist Alexis Pia Gerlach<\/strong>, and pianist Margaret Kampmeier<\/strong>. The performance follows an intensive week of on-site rehearsals and work sessions.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is an amazing opportunity to hear the work of next-generation musical stars, said CULTIVATE Director Derek Bermel<\/strong>, the Grammy-nominated composer and clarinetist. \u201cCULTIVATE has built an enviable record of identifying highly-gifted young composers and helping propel them to worldwide acclaim.\u201d Now in its eighth year, CULTIVATE is an important destination for today\u2019s boldest and most gifted young composers at the beginning of their professional careers.<\/p>\n Support for CULTIVATE comes from the Aaron Copland Fund for Music, Alice M.
