How isit possible that these little girls\u2014always bright, never dull, sometimes confounding\u2014are now in their 20s?<\/p>\n<p><strong>E<\/strong><strong>lizabeth.<\/strong> Partner in life, love, and work. My soul mate and my sunshine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>F<\/strong><strong>all foliage.<\/strong> With the riot<br \/>\nof vibrant colors and textures in Westchester,\u00a0 who needs Vermont?<\/p>\n<p><strong>G<\/strong><strong>astronomy.<\/strong> Suddenly, it\u2019s no longer enough for me to enjoy eating fine food (and Westchester is a gourmet\u2019s bonanza); now I\u2019m trying to prepare it. There goes the kitchen!<\/p>\n<p><strong>H<\/strong><strong>iking<\/strong>. Peekskill-Briarcliff and North County Trailways, Blue Mountain Reservation, the Croton Aqueduct Trail\u2014even the dirt roads and hills of Bedford, which sometimes feel like nearly vertical inclines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I<\/strong><strong>magination. <\/strong>The place without limits, where anything is possible. I try to visit often!<\/p>\n<p><strong>J<\/strong><strong>acob Burns Film Center.<\/strong> Is there a wider menu of films\u2014new, old, obscure, classic, foreign, quirky\u2014or a more congenial place to see them in Westchester?<\/p>\n<p><strong>K<\/strong><strong>ing Kone.<\/strong> Yes, I feel guilty. But I\u2019ll take any of the homemade coffee ice creams, please.<\/p>\n<p><strong>L<\/strong><strong>ocavore<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong> Treasured\u00a0neighborhood spots like\u00a0Table Local Market and the Pleasantville Farmers\u2019 Market seem to be popping up everywhere across Westchester.<\/p>\n<p><strong>M<\/strong><strong>erestead<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong> The majestic former W &amp; J Sloan family home in Mount Kisco, which has been the site for Copland House\u2019s main stage concerts\u2014the only series in the US that<br \/>\nexclusively champions American classical music.<\/p>\n<p><strong>N<\/strong><strong>euberger<\/strong><strong> Museum.<\/strong> It began as a symbol of Roy Neuberger\u2019s passion for contemporary painters and a home for his private art collection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>O<\/strong><strong>ptimism.<\/strong> I\u2019m still foolish enough to think that an idea, determination, and a touch of thick-headedness can make nearly anything happen!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q<\/strong><strong>uiet.<\/strong> In the \u201cwilds\u201d of Northern Westchester, the crunch of a leaf beneath an animal\u2019s foot or the flapping of a bird\u2019s wing can reverberate grandly in the evening air.<\/p>\n<p><strong>R<\/strong><strong>eading.<\/strong> Traveling into minds, hearts, souls, ideas, and far-off places, minus the long lines and frequent-flier miles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>S<\/strong><strong>teinway.<\/strong> My musical partner at countless performances on stages across Westchester and in more than 30 countries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/westchestermagazine.com\/publications\/michael-boriskin-of-copland-houses-favorite-westchester-things\/\">Read the full list in the magazine<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Michael Boriskin Of Copland House\u2019s Favorite Westchester Things The internationally acclaimed pianist and Copland House artistic &amp; executive director on food, film, and fall foliage, all in alphabetic order.
