Introducing … THE SHINING, a new, critically acclaimed opera written by composer Paul Moravec and librettist Mark Campbell, which is directly based on celebrated author Stephen King’s 1977 best-selling novel.
Called “…impressively creative [and] maximally effective, (OperaNews),” The Shining was commissioned by the Minnesota Opera as part of its New Works Initiative. The two-act, full evening opera premiered in May 2016 to sold-out audiences at The Ordway Center for Performing Arts (St. Paul, MN). The production featured staging by Eric Simonson and was conducted by music director Michael Christie.
